Visa-free travel between Georgia and the EU came into force on 28 March 2017. This means that citizens of Georgia with biometric passports can enter the Schengen area visa-free and can stay for no more than 90 days in any 180-day period.

The visa-free travel rules apply to 30 countries in total. This includes the EU Member States, which are part of the Schengen area (Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden), EU Member States not yet fully applying the Schengen acquis (Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Romania) as well as Schengen-associated states (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland).

The visa-free rules apply to travel only. They do not grant citizens of Georgia the right to reside for more than 3 months or take up employment in the Schengen area. People who hold a non-biometric passport only still need a visa. The same applies to those who intend to work during a short stay – or who want to stay for more than 90 days. Both visas and work permits are required. 

Working or living in the Schengen area without the relevant national residence or working permit is illegal.

Erasmus + Info-Day tomorrow and Erasmus+ Virtual Exchange call of 2022

This action supports online people-to-people projects, based on multilateral partnerships between organisations active in the field of higher education or youth (non-formal education). The EVE action aims to promote various types of virtual exchanges as a complement to Erasmus+ physical mobility, allowing more young people to benefit from intercultural and international educational experiences through online interactions, using existing digital and youth-friendly technologies. All projects under this Call involve organisations and participants coming from EU Member States, third countries associated to the Erasmus+ Programme and third countries not associated to the Programme in certain regions specified in the Programme Guide. This action is a key component of the EU’s response to the challenges of encouraging intercultural dialogue, increasing tolerance and soft skills development to increase employability, socio-economic recovery, growth and prosperity.

The web-streamed Info Session will be organised on 15 June 2022 from 2 to 5 pm (CET – Central European Time). The event will be held in English.
