EU Delegation endorses European Business Association Georgia to join European Business Organisation Worldwide Network
EBA has been in operation since 2017 and unites over 100 European and Georgian companies from various sectors such as creative, insurance, financial, construction, tourism and agriculture. EBA has focused on key aspects and policy directions relevant to the Association Agreement and its Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area.
In 2021, following a competitive call for proposals, the EU Delegation granted a contract to EBA for “Promoting European business and economic interests in Georgia.” The grant has contributed to strengthen business relations between the European Union and Georgia. It promoted fair, open, and long-term relationships between businesses, customers/beneficiaries, and the authorities. At the same time, it established a key interlocutor function to the EU Delegation, the EEAS, and European Commission, also relaying the views of other existing business organisations (general/sectoral/bilateral) and for EU Member States’ embassies, most of which have no bilateral chamber of commerce in Georgia.
In this context, in 2022 EBA established a European Economic Cooperation Platform (EECP), it was elected to join the Investor’s Council chaired by the Prime Minister, it presented a useful business climate survey and hosted a successful EU-Georgia Business Forum. This EECP is open to business associations and business support organisations operational in Georgia.
The Delegation recommends the integration of the EBA Georgia into the EBO Worldwide Network to better strengthen its work and to represent European business interests.
