Poverty remains high in regions located in Northern Ghana. Smallholder farmers, especially women, are the most affected by rural poverty, namely because of the following issues:

 

  1. Low resilience to climate change conditions which leads to low agricultural productivity and food insecurity;
  2. Limited sustainable employment opportunities and decent work within the agricultural sector and its value chain development;
  3. Inadequate and inaccessible social protection schemes for people living in poverty in rural agrarian areas.
