Technical Assistance to The Ministry of Trade and Industry in The Implementation of the Steppingstone Economic Partnership Agreement (iEPA) and the Related Accompanying Measures

In August 2016, Ghana ratified a Stepping Stone Economic Partnership Agreement, also called interim Economic Partnership Agreement (iEPA) with the European Union. The partnership agreement seeks to reinforce and secure more competitive trading relationship between the two counterparts. The iEPA provides Ghana with duty-free quota-free access to the EU market, the world's largest market for imports.

 

Implementation of the EPA is expected to be a long-term process based on commitments from Ghanaian and European partners.
Ghana’s iEPA is the first bilateral free-trade agreement ever implemented by Ghana.
