The ERC virtual event “Celebrating 10 000 grantees”

It is our great pleasure to invite you to the ERC virtual event “Celebrating 10 000 grantees” on 6 May 2021 from 18.00 to 19.00 (Japan time).
Launched in 2007 to fund investigator-driven frontier research, the ERC has become a key component of the EU’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. By empowering scientists to follow their curiosity, frontier research helps to produce paradigm-shifting discoveries with profound economic, societal and policy impact.
The ERC would like to celebrate this significant milestone by welcoming its 10,000th beneficiary and highlighting the need to continue to support frontier research. The role of scientific research is key to enabling our society to deal with crises, especially in turbulent times like the ones we currently face.
Distinguished speakers at the online event on 6 May will include Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, David Sassoli, President of the European Parliament, Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Manuel Heitor, Portuguese Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education and Cristian-Silviu Buşoi, Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Research and Energy.
During the ceremony, the identity of the ERC’s 10,000th grantee will be revealed and several beneficiaries of ERC grants will present project results that have transformed science.
You will find the programme to the ceremony and link to register here.
