Hybrid event: The Need for Accelerated Regulatory Reform to Expand Offshore Wind

25.11.2022

The Renewable Energy Institute, together with Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Japan, is pleased to announce that it will host a hybrid event titled "The Need for Accelerated Regulatory Reform to Expand Offshore Wind" on Wednesday 30 November. Registration is now open to participate in-person or virtually.

Japan's offshore wind industry is still in the early stages of development and various reforms are needed to move forward to the next drastic phase of accelerated expansion. In particular, there is an urgent need to conform with the technical standards, conformity assessment, and certification systems for offshore wind power generation with internationally recognised norms.

At this event, we will explore how standardisation and certification processes can be streamlined and simplified, introduce best practices from Europe, where offshore wind power is at the core of the green transformation, and discuss how these could be implemented in the Japanese regulatory, accreditation, and conformity assessment processes.
