Al Mafraq Hosts Its First Entrepreneurship Day to Empower Local Innovators and Boost Regional Economic Growth

Today marked a milestone for the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Al Mafraq city. Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Interior, the first-ever Mafraq Entrepreneurship Day was celebrated at Al al-Bayt University.

Organised in partnership with Al al-Bayt University and the North Entrepreneurship Network, the day was a flagship initiative under the Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Economic Development and Employment (E4DE) project, which is jointly funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Union (EU). It is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship (MoDEE).

The event brought together aspiring and established entrepreneurs, representatives from government and academia, entrepreneurship support organisations as well as international partners – all united by a shared commitment to foster local innovation and inclusive economic growth.

From bustling start-up booths to vibrant panel discussions, the event brought Mafraq’s entrepreneurial spirit to life.

Al Mafraq Entrepreneurship Day served as a collaborative platform to spotlight the emerging entrepreneurial ecosystem, catalyse investment and promote locally driven solutions to pressing economic challenges.

Participants agreed that what made this day special wasn’t just the scale of participation – it was the message it conveyed: Mafraq is ready. Ready to be recognised as a hub for entrepreneurship. Ready to invest in the potential of its youth, women and underserved communities. And ready to spark real collaboration between the public and private sector.

The event featured the Launch of the “Mafraq Award for Creativity and Entrepreneurship”, recognising innovative local ventures; A networking session connecting entrepreneurs with support organisations, private sector stakeholders, and policy-makers. It also offered participants two panel discussions on opportunities and challenges facing entrepreneurs in Mafraq; an exhibition showcasing start-ups, community initiatives, and social enterprises; as well as a local bazaar celebrating home-based and productive businesses.

The event also included high-level addresses by representatives from the Ministry of Interior, the German Embassy and Al al-Bayt University – each reaffirming their commitment to supporting inclusive and sustainable development in Jordan’s northern governorates.

The Entrepreneurship Day was more than a celebration. It was a signal of what’s possible when local talent meets strong partnerships.
