Bulgarian Jazz Night - Plovdiv celebration

17.11.2019

Each year, the European Union designates two cities to be European Capitals of Culture. In 2019, the title is being held by Matera in Italy and Plovdiv in Bulgaria.

It’s a great opportunity for the cities to generate considerable cultural, social and economic benefits and it can help foster urban regeneration, change their image and raise their visibility and profile on an international scale.

Plovdiv is the oldest city in Bulgaria and the oldest continuously inhabited city in Europe, with prehistoric settlements dating back over 8,000 years.

To mark the occasion and stress its firm commitment to support and encourage cultural exchange, the European Union in Jordan created and funded a Bulgarian cultural evening featuring the collective “Y Jazz”, a photo exhibition and a reception.

The free of charge event is organized by EUNIC Jordan in partnership with the Bulgarian Embassy to Jordan and Greater Amman Municipality.

“Y Jazz” is a trio of young, vibrant and enthusiastic musicians living in Bulgaria, combining authentic jazz with Balkan and Folk music.

The celebration will take place on 28 November 2019 (7 p.m.) at Al-Hussein Cultural Center – Ras Al Ain.
