EU in Jordan Marks International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia

17.05.2020

Today we celebrate human diversity, while highlighting the particular challenges faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) persons all over the world. In Jordan and around the world, it is important to protect LGBTI persons against domestic and other forms of violence, and to ensure that they have access to healthcare in this difficult time and at all times.

The European Union in Jordan reiterates its commitment to the equality and dignity of all human beings, irrespective of their sexual orientation and gender identity. We will continue to ensure that rights of LGBTI persons are promoted and protected. As the first article of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights reads, "all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights" - LGBTI persons are no exception and should not be left behind.
