Inauguration of Al-Qadisyeh Comprehensive Health Centre: Expanding Healthcare Access in Tafilah

The three-floor health centre, covering an area of approximately 1,462 square meters, is designed to provide a wide range of specialized healthcare services. These include an emergency room, laboratory services, X-ray facilities, maternal and child healthcare, community health clinic services, women’s and pregnancy care, and dental services. The centre has also been equipped with modern medical equipment and advanced laboratory technology, ensuring high-quality care. With a capacity to treat approximately 2,600 patients each month, the centre not only reduces the burden on the nearest hospital, which is 30 km away, but also ensures that vital healthcare services are accessible to the community members who would otherwise face difficulties traveling such distances. Overall, the facility is expected to have 10,000 people from Al-Qadisyeh directly registered and serve up to 30,000 people including from surrounding villages, significantly improving healthcare access for the entire region.
During the ceremony, H.E. Dr. Firas Al-Hawari highlighted the importance of the new facility in improving healthcare services for local communities. He noted that the center aligns with the Ministry’s efforts to upgrade health services and strengthen primary healthcare in Tafilah Governorate as part of the first phase of the comprehensive health coverage plan.
The EU Ambassador, Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas, reaffirmed the European Union’s dedication to strengthening Jordan’s health infrastructure and ensuring access to quality medical care for all.
“Today’s inauguration of Al-Qadisyeh comprehensive health centre highlight the importance of Universal Health Coverage in Jordan, supported by the European Union. It is our shared objective to ensure that everyone living in Jordan has access to affordable and quality health care. We are therefore proud to have collaborated with the Ministry of Health and the Spanish Cooperation to implement the REAYAH project that has increased access to quality health care for Jordanians and Syrian refugees in Tafilah, Ajloun, Mafraq and Irbid governorates,” he said.
The Ambassador of Spain highlighted the importance of having this strategic infrastructure ready for the delivery of basic health services to the population from an area facing challenges in terms of access to urban centralities of the region and the country. he considers that this is an step forward in terms of improving live conditions in the area for all populations and also for the presence of the public health institutions with improved and extended services.
The Al-Qadisyeh Comprehensive Health Centre is poised to play a vital role in bridging healthcare gaps for the region, offering essential services and improving overall access to healthcare for local residents. This newly inaugurated facility is part of the REAYAH project, a four-year initiative funded by the EU Regional Trust Fund in Response to the Syrian Crisis with a budget of 22 million Euros. In Jordan, the EU response to the Syria refugee crisis also benefits Jordanian citizens. The REAYAH project focuses on strengthening Jordan's public health system, particularly in the care and management of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).
In addition to renovation and maintenance of public health clinics, the provision of modern medical devices, enhanced medical protocols for early detection of NCDs, and capacity building for healthcare providers, the REAYAH project also promotes increased health awareness within communities, educating the public on the risk factors, prevention, and health promotion regarding NCDs.
Through the REAYAH project, the EU and AECID continue to support Jordan’s efforts to enhance public health services in Mafraq, Tafilah, and Ajloun, ensuring that healthcare is accessible and inclusive for all.
