Joint Statement to mark the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHoBiT)

Today we celebrate the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHoBiT).  On this important day each year we express our support and solidarity with the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI+) communities in Kazakhstan, and around the world.

This year IDAHoBiT’s theme is “Together Always: United in Diversity”.

This theme emphasizes the universality of human rights and the dignity and equality of all people, regardless of a person’s sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, and sex characteristics.  Just as their fellow citizens, LGBTI+ people are entitled to respect, freedom and protection.

Inclusive and diverse countries will always be more prosperous, peaceful and secure.  We encourage the Government of Kazakhstan not to leave any of its citizens behind, and to fulfill its commitments towards the promotion and protection of human rights of the people of Kazakhstan.

Today, we celebrate love in all its diversity.  Every day, we are proud to stand by the LGBTI+ communities.  We are “Together Always: United In Diversity”.
