Introducing Nicoleta, trainee in the Political, Press and Information Section

My name is Nicoleta Adam and I am a trainee in the Political, Press and Information Section of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Political Sciences and I am about to start master’s courses in the field of security. Prior to applying for the traineeship within the EU Delegation, I was an intern in several non-governmental organisations and state institutions active in the field of international relations, diplomacy and foreign policy. In parallel, I am also involved in the projects carried out by the Foreign Policy Association, a local NGO that promotes reforms and prospects for the European integration of Moldova.

The decision to participate in the traineeship organised by the EU Delegation was spontaneous but inspired. Being in my last year of university, I was looking for opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge in practice, and to discover the direction in which I could continue my work, so I decided to try my luck and apply for the traineeship program. From the faculty’s banks, I was interested in the relations between the EU and Moldova, as well as in the accession process itself. The traineeship in an EU institution gives me the opportunity to learn more about the ways in which the EU Delegation represents European values in Moldova and about the activity of a diplomatic mission.

During my activity in the Political, Press and Information Section, my main tasks are focused on supporting the monitoring of political developments in the Republic of Moldova, reporting progress towards meeting the nine recommendations identified by the European Commission in its Opinion on Moldova’s application for EU membership, as well as supporting on the overall reporting on specific topics. Moreover, I have the opportunity to attend meetings with various representatives of state institutions, as well as accompanying the members of the EU Delegation on visits to different regions of the country. From the first day of the traineeship, the Head of the Section carefully guided me to understand all the nuances of working in a Delegation, and the other colleagues took care to quickly fit me into the current activities.

Overall, I am convinced that the traineeship will contribute to shaping useful qualities for my future professional path, as well as to establishing important contacts and relations. The activity within the EU Delegation is distinguished by dynamism, dedication and perseverance and is a perfect opportunity to work in a motivational and multicultural environment. Therefore, I encourage all young graduates who are passionate about international relations and diplomacy to consider the possibility of participating in a traineeship within the EU Delegation to Moldova in the future, in order to benefit from a unique experience.
