Online Knowledge Hub on Civic Space – Initial Needs Assessment
The EU Strategy for Civil Society, adopted in November 2025, sets out actions and deliverables to strengthen the civic space, across the Strategy’s three main priorities: engagement, protection and support. One of the envisaged actions under the priority ‘protection and support’ is the establishment of an “Online Knowledge Hub”.
“To map existing monitoring initiatives at local, national, EU and international level, the Commission will create, in cooperation with FRA, an online knowledge hub on civic space. This hub will facilitate access to existing monitoring and protection projects, tools and activities, including available protection measures.” (EU Strategy for Civil Society, November 2025, p.11).
This consultation aims to map and understand your needs and preferences to contribute to the development of the hub and ensure that is a useful, accessible and relevant tool to help strengthen civic space in Europe.
The consultation will be open from 7-21 September 2026. The questionnaire contains 20 questions.
Estimated completion time: 10-15 minutes
