Primary School “Vladimir Nazor”: Inauguration of a New Building Plaque
At the Primary School “Vladimir Nazor” in Podgorica, a ceremony was held to unveil the plaque of the school’s new building, commemorating the successful cooperation between Montenegro and the European Investment Bank. The school was visited by Robert De Groot, Vice-President of the European Investment Bank; Bernard Brunet, representative of the Delegation of the EU to Montenegro; Tatjana Ćalasan, State Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation; and Marko Jokić, State Secretary at the Ministry of Public Works.
During the visit, the guests had the opportunity to learn more about the school’s work, its programmes, and projects aimed at improving the quality of education.
EIB Vice-President De Groot emphasised the importance of investing in education as a key driver of social and economic development.
“The European Investment Bank will continue to support projects that contribute to enhancing the education system in the region,” he highlighted.
Bernard Brunet praised the effort and dedication of teachers and pupils, stressing that education is the foundation of European values and prosperity. He also pointed out the importance of cooperation between the EU and Montenegro in the fields of education and innovation.
Tatjana Ćalasan underlined that the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, is committed to improving the education system and providing better conditions for both pupils and teachers.
“Through the Programme for the Advancement of Montenegrin Education, implemented by the Government of Montenegro in cooperation with the EIB and supported by the European Union, we are creating new and improved spaces for learning, socialising, and development. This project is important not only for its financial value but for its essence – because it invests in what we value the most: our children and their future,” said Ćalasan. She also extended her gratitude to the EIB, the EU, and all partners and contributors to the project.
According to Marko Jokić, the implementation of this project has shown that education and youth development are values that unite institutions, partners, and the community.
“This is not merely an infrastructural endeavour, but a symbol of the country’s shared vision and commitment – that every child in Montenegro has the right to modern conditions for learning and progress. Because it is only through knowledge and education that we build a sustainable and European future for our country,” Jokić emphasised.
The headmistress of “Vladimir Nazor” Primary School, Ljiljana Marković, expressed her gratitude to everyone who helped this educational institution continue to be a symbol of knowledge, unity, and the upbringing of many generations, now modern, contemporary, and a source of pride for all who are part of it.
