Are you a young graduate interested in International Relations? Do you want to learn more about the work of a diplomatic mission and how the Delegation of the European Union represents the organization's interests and values in Mozambique? If so, apply by March 15, 2026.

We offer:

Two internships of six months each at the Political, Press and Information Section (PPI) of the EU Delegation to Mozambique. The first internship is scheduled to begin in May 2026, followed by the second in November 2026.

The Political, Press and Information Section of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Mozambique is responsible for the following activities:

  • Analyzing and reporting on internal politics, human rights, and governance in Mozambique, while maintaining direct dialogue with the Government and national institutions.

  • Preparing annual Partnership Dialogue and other sector and political meetings.
  • Managing relations with the media, promoting campaigns that highlight the impact of European values, such as democracy and peace, and coordinating cultural and economic diplomacy; Monitor EU visibility in the local/regional media on topics concerning the EU.

  • Elaborate and implement the Public Diplomacy and Strategic Communication Plan of the Delegation around its values and its activities in Mozambique.

  • Manage the Delegation's website and social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram and YouTube).

  • Ensuring the EU and its Member States speak with one voice by aligning common political positions among European embassies.

  • Establishing and maintaining networks of contacts with political parties, civil society, academia and international organizations to defend and strengthen the strategic interests of the EU -Mozambique partnership.

Main Tasks

  • Assist in monitoring Mozambique's political, economic and social situation by drafting reports, briefing notes, and briefings.

  • Support liaison and coordination with EU Member States and international partners.

  • Support the implementation of EU cooperation initiatives and actions regarding Human Rights and governance.

  • Assist in social media management, draft press content, and collaborate on the implementation of EU visibility campaigns.

  • Attend conferences, meetings, and academic events, ensuring subsequent reporting and follow-up when necessary.

  • Provide administrative and logistical assistance to the Section (organizing meetings, drafting minutes, and managing information requests).

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

  • Academic Background: University degree in International Relations, Political Science, Law, Communication, or related fields (completed within the last year).

  • Language Proficiency: Excellent command of English and Portuguese (both oral and written) - Proficiency in other languages is a plus.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to synthesize information, structured writing skills, and a critical perspective on the political and economic reality of Mozambique.

  • Digital Literacy: Advanced proficiency in MS Office tools and familiarity with social media management.

  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills, time management, and a proactive attitude.

  • Team Spirit: Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural and dynamic environment.

Note: You can only apply for one traineeship per Delegation.

Important information 

  • Before applying, you are requested to examine the dedicated traineeships website as well as the general eligibility criteria for paid traineeships (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 - Paid traineeship).

  • Each selected trainee will receive a monthly stipend to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee. 

  • Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. In case the selected candidates are not able to present the required documents, their application will be rejected.
  • The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin. 

Citizens from EU Member states:

  • must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation.
  • must hold a relevant entrance visa and/or temporary residence permit where applicable, based on the traineeship agreement, the duration of the traineeship, and in compliance with the local legislation.
