Creating Opportunities for youth in digital economy (CODE)

Empowering Nepal’s next generation—boosting digital skills, jobs, and entrepreneurship for youth in Gandaki and Madhesh.

As Nepal prepares to transition from Least Developed Country (LDC) status, investing in youth is critical to realising the national vision of "Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali"—as outlined in the 16th Periodic Plan. Yet, this ambition is hindered by a 20.54% youth unemployment rate and persistent outmigration. While Nepal’s growing digital infrastructure offers a pathway for inclusion, disparities in access and skills remain key barriers.

The CODE initiative aims to foster inclusive youth empowerment in selected municipalities of Gandaki and Madhesh Provinces, enhancing employability, digital entrepreneurship, and equitable participation in the evolving digital economy.
By strengthening civil society organisations (CSOs) and local ecosystem actors project will equip young people—particularly those from marginalised groups—with the skills, tools, and opportunities needed to thrive. The strategic focus are Madhesh and Gandaki as justified by regional disparities in youth engagement and digital access
