Reclaiming Advocacy through Narratives, Debates, Grassroot Theatre and Arts (RANGA)
Reclaiming Advocacy through Narratives, Debates, Grassroot Theatre and Arts (RANGA) is a nationwide journey that brings Nepali youth from every province onto the same stage, literal and metaphorical, to tell the stories they were never given space to tell. Through Mandala Theatre’s powerful productions and drama school, Debate Network Nepal’s vibrant debate clubs and tournaments, and Campaign for Change’s pioneering intersex-led storytelling and livelihood initiatives, the program weaves together theatre, civic discourse, and lived experiences of young people into one shared tapestry.
Over the course of this event, young women and girls, Dalit and indigenous youth, young people with disabilities, and LGBTQI, especially intersex youth, step forward as artists, debaters, and advocates, transforming personal narratives into public conversations on rights, dignity, and inclusion. Stages, workshops, and debate halls become safe, creative spaces where youth learn, perform, and organize, building the confidence, skills, and networks they need to shape their communities and futures.
By the end of RANGA, participants will have created inclusive theatre productions, launched and strengthened youth-led debate and drama clubs, and piloted new livelihood pathways in the creative sector, turning passion into profession for many. The festival’s impact continues beyond the closing performance, as trained youth fellows, intersex entrepreneurs, local partners, and community clubs carry forward a culture of critical thinking, empathy, and collective action, ensuring that marginalized voices do not just appear on stage but remain at the centre of Nepal’s public life.
