Unleashing Digital Acceleration and Ambition of Nepali Youth (UDAAN)
As Nepal prepares to transition from Least Developed Country (LDC) status, investing in youth is critical to realising the national vision of "Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali"—as outlined in the 16th Periodic Plan. Yet, this ambition is hindered by a 20.54% youth unemployment rate and persistent outmigration. While Nepal’s growing digital infrastructure offers a pathway for inclusion, disparities in access and skills remain key barriers. The project UDAAN aims to drive inclusive digital transformation by empowering young Nepalis—particularly women, marginalised groups, indigenous peoples, and those in remote areas—to thrive in the digital economy. It will:
• Upskill youth in digital literacy, tech-driven employmenthip.
• Foster innovation by enabling youth to co-design solutions for local challenges.
• Promote equitable access through partnerships with community-based organisations in underrepresented regions.
