EUROPE Space highlights the close collaboration between Europe and Panama

EUROPE Space, the Europe Day celebration organised by the Delegation of the European Union and its Member States, successfully concluded last weekend at the Moda Diseño District. The space consolidated as a meeting point to publicise the green, digital and social projects of the European Union in Panama and the region, as well as to highlight the rich and diverse cultural heritage.

EUROPE Space offered attendees an immersive and participatory experience through various formats, including photographic exhibitions, talks, European film screenings, lectures, language classes and virtual reality, among others.

With more than 1,000 visitors, the event attracted a diverse audience, including students, families, professionals, civil society and the media, reflecting the interest and curiosity in the collaboration between the European Union and Panama as a key ally, as well as the commitment to shared values - democracy, human rights and the environment.

Visitors were able to see what will be the CopernicusLAC Regional Center in Panama, with dynamic demonstrations of the use of satellite data from space and panel discussions that highlighted the usefulness of Earth observation for disaster risk management.

The event also included the awarding of the Euro CineLab competition, with the winner being the short documentary film “De todos lados un poco”, by director Marisabel Medina, which takes an introspective journey into her identity and the foundations that built her as a person.

The leading role of youth should also be highlighted: from the theme of the third European Film Week that began in EUROPE Space, to the presentations of the member associations of the EU Youth Speaker in Panama, to the opportunities for educational exchanges with European academic institutions of the Erasmus+ program.

In short, EUROPE Space served as a platform to foster intercultural dialogue through the exchange of ideas in the areas of technology, culture, social and environmental actions.
