European Film Week 2025: Cinema, Routes and Culture

The European Film Week in Panama seeks to bring Panamanian cinema enthusiasts a carefully selected programme of European films, completely free of charge. These productions, which are rarely shown in commercial cinemas in Panama, have received numerous awards and reflect the cultural diversity of the European Union.
After focusing on migration in 2023, and youth and childhood in 2024, the fourth edition of the European Film Week will centre on the theme of cultural and natural routes. A total of 12 films from various European Union Member States and Ukraine will be screened. The film programme will be complemented by cultural activities, including the presentation of the project Cultural Routes, Natural Crossings, as well as Erasmus+ initiatives and express classes in different European languages.
For the second consecutive year, we are also offering the Euro CineLab short film competition and training, organised in collaboration with El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica and Nicaragua. In addition, the lead instructor, Belgian-Ecuadorian independent filmmaker Xavier Solano, will visit Panama to deliver an in-person workshop on Cinema, Pathways and Culture.
Join us at the GECU (Experimental Film Group of the University of Panama) from 19 to 23 May 2025 – free entry until full capacity is reached!
