Abroad, the EU is represented through more than 140 diplomatic representations, known also as EU Delegations, which have a similar function to those of an embassy. The EU Delegation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which is regionally accredited also to the Kingdom of Bahrain and to the Sultanate of Oman, was established in 2004 and covers bilateral relations between the EU and the Gulf countries of the GCC as well as relations between the EU and GCC Secretariat

We offer a post of driver . Under this post, the recruited person will be attributed functions depending on the needs of the Delegation. Upon recruitment, the successful candidate will occupy a specific job function as driver – this job function may be changed in accordance with the needs of the Delegation. Under this job function the successful candidate will serve as technical and support staff to the Head of Administration with the following tasks and responsibilities under the supervision and responsibility of the Head of Delegation:
- Perform daily routine inside and outside cleaning of the vehicle and daily inspection of tyre pressure, belts, oil, water and petrol levels and adjust when required;
- Advise the Head of Administration or/and Administrative Assistant of any repair or maintenance requirement of the duty vehicle;
- Ensure monitoring of vehicles consumption and maintenance costs;
- Make sure that the third party vehicle insurance, the vehicle registration and driving licence are always up to date and warn for timely renewal,
- Drive any delegation, official visitor as instructed by the Head of Delegation and the Head of Administration;
- Ensure respect of security rules concerning the vehicle and driving conduct at all times ( such as parking of vehicles in more secured illuminated areas, use of safety belts for drivers and passengers, avoidance of dangerous manoeuvres and respect of speed limits);
- Act under instruction of the Head of Administration regarding agenda of visitors and ensure knowledge about venues and best routes depending of traffic hours;
- Deliver by hand any communication from the Delegation to recipients/ post office and keep registry book as instructed by the Head of Administration;
- Obtain bank statements, pay utility bills, purchase office materials and other goods for the Delegation;
- Act as receptionist when not occupied in regular tasks of this job subscription;
- Perform any other tasks, necessary to ensure a smooth performance of the Delegation and assist Head of Delegation in carrying out tasks outside the job description during exceptional circumstances such has high level visits or Delegation events as can be reasonably expected from a driver.
The place of employment is Riyadh, KSA. The opening hours of the delegation are from 8 AM to 5 PM, the number of working hours per week is 37h30. The post is on Group 5 and the starting salary is 6,901 SAR over 13 month. The contract is of fixed duration of 1 year, renewable with the possibility to become indefinite, with a 6-month probation period. Days of leave will be 22 working days in addition to national/public days. We offer a competitive progressive carrier in an international environment. Selection Criteria
Minimum Requirements:
- Medically fit to perform the required duties;
- Enjoys civil rights and permits for employment under local law (for non-nationals: valid Iqama/work visa/resident card), including a clean criminal record;
- Has an excellent knowledge (C1 level) of English/Arabic;
- High School degree;
- Has 3 years professional experience performing the above mentioned tasks;
The following will be considered an asset:
- Post-secondary education;
- Experience in a diplomatic mission or/and additional relevant working experience;
- Knowledge of French language;
- Knowledge of Windows 10 and Microsoft Office package;

The procedure
After the deadline for applications, the applications will be reviewed by a Selection Committee set up for this purpose. The Selection Committee will prepare a short-list of candidates who are considered to be the most suitable for the post on the basis of a preliminary assessment of the information provided in their application letter and the supporting documents. The short-listed candidates will be invited to an assessment phase (interview) which may include testing the driving skills. During this phase, the Selection Committee will assess the suitability of the candidates for the post.
The candidates who have not been short-listed will not be contacted individually; however, the Delegation will use the same means of publication as for this Vacancy Notice to inform the remaining candidates once the recruitment procedure has been completed and that a candidate has (or has not) been recruited.
