We offer:

Traineeships of 6 months starting in 2026 within the Political, Press and Information section of the EU Delegation to Serbia. The tentative start date is in November 2026.

  • Traineeship in the Political, Press and Information Section (PPI) - three positions:

The PPI Section is responsible for following political relations between the EU and the Republic of Serbia.  It monitors elements related to political criteria of the accession negotiations, the area of rule of law, fundamental rights and follows Serbia's domestic affairs as well as foreign policy. Its main interlocutors are government officials, officials in the Parliament, international organisation and embassies of third countries, politicians, academic institutions/think tanks, civil society leaders.

The Section includes a Press and Information unit: 

The Press and Information team is responsible for Communication, Information and Media sectors, visibility events and media reporting.  It supports and monitors the work of four Europe Houses in Serbia in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš and Novi Pazar.

The Section is headed by a Head of Section and consists of a team of 15 people.

Main tasks: 

  • Contributing to various documents for the political section (collecting information, reports, briefings, analysis and translation);
  • Researching and preparing necessary background material on various political, economic, foreign policy, fundamental rights and rule of law matters, communication (including on social media), and assisting in monitoring and reporting on Serbia’s progress in meeting criteria of EU accession negotiations, particularly related to Chapters 23 and 24;
  • Support to the organisation of events and related logistics;
  • Support to other sections involved in main political/economic/communication issues (including creation of relevant social media content);
  • Attending events, conferences, meetings, taking notes and reporting;
  • Preparing table and power point presentations on various topics;
  • Responding to ad hoc and urgent requests;
  • Updating various contact and mailing lists. 
  • Supporting administrative and coordination tasks across the Section as required, including weekly minute-taking during Section meetings, distributing meeting summaries.

 

Main tasks for Press and Information Unit:

  • Supporting the preparation and delivery of public diplomacy and communication activities, including events, campaigns, and outreach initiatives. This includes preparing presentations, helping organise and produce content for events at Europe House, creating presentations on EU Delegation/Europe House activities for EU Member States, and contributing ideas for public outreach initiatives, including myth-busting campaigns and discussions surrounding proposed HoD/Ambassador public debates.
  • Assisting with drafting, editing, and proofreading communication materials, including speeches, press materials, and social media content. Examples include editing speeches for the Ambassador/Deputy Head of Delegation or Heads of Section.
  • Monitoring media coverage and compiling daily and weekly press summaries related to EU priorities and Serbia–EU relations. Assist with categorising Serbian digital and print media coverage by narrative and tone, particularly regarding anti-EU, as well as researching statements and speeches by relevant political and public actors.
  • Providing logistical and organisational support for official events, including coordination, protocol support, and on-site assistance. Contribution to the planning and delivery of major events, including providing logistical feedback and operational support.
  • Assisting with stakeholder engagement, including communication with journalists, civil society organisations, institutional partners, and international stakeholders. 
  • Supporting administrative and coordination tasks across the Section as required, including weekly minute-taking during Section meetings, distributing meeting summaries.

 

We look for:

 

Qualifications or special requirements:

  • University degree in political science, social studies (including communication); 
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken, and fluency in Serbian, both written and spoken;
  • Sound academic knowledge of how the EU works (institutions, decision-making, competences) and of the EU enlargement and accession process, the fundamentals and economic criteria;
  • Good understanding of political and economic developments, as well as foreign policy, in Serbia and the Western Balkans;
  • Good analytical skills and the ability to analyse, formulate and synthesise complex information;
  • Strong drafting skills: able to produce clear, concise, and accurate notes and readouts under time pressure;
  • Social media skills, including capacity to create content; 
  • Ability to work across two teams and manage competing priorities;
  • Ability and willingness to work in an international environment;
  • Ability to deliver good quality work output within tight deadlines;
  • Computer literate with practical experience in Microsoft packages;
  • Initiative, flexibility, good organisational skills and a team player is an advantage.
  • Candidates must have less than one year of professional experience after graduation by the signing date of the traineeship agreement (other traineeships or student jobs or volunteering works carried out during university or after graduation are not considered as professional experience).
