EU supports Moda Fashion Connects project.

The second phase of Moda Fashion Connects training was officially inaugurated on 4 August by HE Mr. Robert van den Dool, Ambassador of the European Union to Sudan, who had a chance to meet and exchange with the enthusiastic  Sudanese Fashion artists, some of whom travelled as far as Al Fashir ( north Darfur), Al Obeid in Kordufan ,to participate in the training.

The event was also attended by the Chargé d’Affaires of Spanish Embassy and the Deputy of the Italian Embassy in Sudan, who are part of the EUNIC in Sudan

EUNIC – European Union National Institutes for Culture – is the European network of organizations engaging in cultural relations. More than 100 countries worldwide are part of the global network with 132 clusters. In sudan the cluster includes Goethe Institut , Institut Français , The British Council , Embassy of Italy and Embassy of Spain.

Moda Fashion Connects project is funded by the European Union and implemented by Goethe-Institut Sudan, under the umbrella of EUNIC. The project has 29 participants for the practical training after a careful selection of 120 applicants.

Moda; Fashion Connects is capacity building and developmental project, which targets specifically fashion designers, and generally individuals supporting and interested in the fashion industry. Moda aims at bridging the gap in fashion education through intensive training. The projects links fashion designers of Sudan with regional and global networks to learn from different experiences, and gain visibility  . Paving the way for creating a new a standalone economic sector. To allow filling the gap in fashion education and knowledge, 15 training workshops on different topics will be delivered in all under four main modules

  1. DESIGN SKILLS
  2. MANUFACTURING SKILLS
  3. IMAGE BUILDING
  4. ENTREPRENEURIAL SKILLS

The project started in October 2020 with a series of online fashion entrepreneurship ,branding and marketing workshops, where 70 fashion designers from all backgrounds were trained until April 2021.

The second phase of the training, which involves hands-on practical workshops with special focus on branding and finishing started 1st of August 2021and will last until April /May 2022

 The project is also including other activities :

  1. Moda Talk – ونسة موضة

It is a monthly forum dedicated to discuss different issues related to fashion design, fashion industry and fashion business .

Showcasing and presentation

Two fashion shows are planned to be organized before the end of the project’, online fashion shows with participation of European and African fashion designers.Final presentation for the brands created during the old ones as well  , also  first Sudanese fashion week called ; Moda Fashion week.

Marketing our students brands by presenting them on facebook page and allowing people to go to their website and social media links.
