European Union launches a new project to promote basic education in six states of Sudan

European Union Ambassador to Sudan, Dutch Ambassador and the Italian Charge d’Affaires paid a visit to Al Mutamar girls school on Mayo area (South Khartoum).  

 

H.E. Mr. Aidan O’ Hara, the European Union Ambassador to Sudan Ambassador paid a visit in Al Mutamar girls school on Mayo area (South Khartoum).  

Accompanied by the Dutch Ambassador and the Italian Charge d’Affaires, the EU Ambassador was pleased to present the new signed project covering Education for the most vulnerable children of Sudan.

The budget of 30 million euro will cover amongst other schools rehabilitation and construction, school feeding, basic school equipment like benches, table, black board, training of teachers, etc. Social day care centre for street children will also be supported to deliver integrated services for those kids in danger.

The new project targets schools in 6 states: North and Central Darfur, North and South Kordofan, Sennar and Khartoum. 83 000 pupils will benefit directly from EU support delivered by a consortium of NGO lead by Save the Children for a period of 3 years.   The European Union is pride to be at the front line of the international support provided to Sudanese population”.
