European Union supports the extension of insurance coverage to the poor and refugee populations in Sudan
The European Union is funding a project that supports the extension of insurance coverage to the poor and refugee populations in Sudan. The project is implemented in all the states of Sudan and is implemented by the World Health Organization with the National Health Insurance Fund and Federal Ministry of Health.
The European Union is funding the project with € 1,064,882.00 Euros to strengthen the healthcare system and to provide modern insurance systems that will benefit the Sudanese people in the long run.
The main goal of the project is to support the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) of Sudan to strengthen and modernize it is governance structures, policies and strategies.
On the long term, the project will enable the Sudanese government to develop the essential health care packages, provide information to make correct decisions, improve payment mechansims and better allocation of healthcare resources to provide equitable resources distributions.
The World Health Organization will provide the consultancy services, procurement of software, computer supplies, training to the local staff and the capacity building of the Sudanese government.
