Sudan Delegation awards two local staff medals for two decades of service
Ambassador Wolfram VETTER, Head of Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Sudan based in Cairo- Egypt, presented medals of achievement to two local staff members: Ms Zeinab ABBAS and Ms Cristina ZERVOU in recognition of their 20 years of loyal services with the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Sudan.
Ambassador Wolfram VETTER thanked the two staff members and congratulated them on this achievement and on their efforts and accomplishments in supporting relations between the European Union and the Republic of Sudan.
He told the two honoured staff members, "Your two decades of service exemplify the highest standards of dedication and commitment. You have been a cornerstone of the mission, and your tireless efforts and high level of professionalism have contributed to enhancing performance and strengthening bilateral relations with Sudan." He added, "We highly value the efforts of our local staff at the EU, their unwavering commitment to excellence, and their positive attitude towards their colleagues and in representing their countries."
In 2006, Ms Zeinab ABBAS joined the EU Delegation as an experienced project manager, a former lawyer and journalist, she continues to support the Cooperation section on Gender, Human Rights, and Governance portfolio. Also, Ms Cristina ZERVOU joined the EU Delegation as a Personal Assistant to the Head of Delegation and now as a Personal Assistant to the Head of Cooperation Section.
Ambassador Wolfram VETTER also thanked all current and former Sudanese local staff for their continued dedication and outstanding service, particularly in development and humanitarian work, and for building a network of relationships with all segments of the Sudanese society. He emphasized that Sudanese staff played a vital role during the ongoing war. The enabling the European Union to continue providing development and humanitarian support under difficult and exceptional circumstances, including remote work due to the displacement of millions of Sudanese from their country, as a result of the war and the separation of families within and outside Sudan.
