Civil society advocacy on media policy, citizen access to information and fundamental freedoms

The project aims at improving the capacity and working environment of civil society organisations (CSOs) and the media sector in Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar.

ACTIVITIES

  • Research on media  policies and implementation.
  • Awareness seminars for journalists and editors on media policies. freedom of expression and access to information.
  • Trainings on Code of Conduct to online media content producers.
  • Capacity building trainings to journalists on their safety and security.
  • Advocacy on legal reform, freedom of expression and access to information.

  • Increased participation of civil society organisations and the media sector in legal reform processes.
  • Improved fundamental freedoms, access to information, democracy and human rights in Tanzania.
  • Enhanced working environment for CSOs and the media sector in Tanzania.
  • Improved safe working conditions for journalists against personal threats and censorship.
