On June 24, 2022, at 7 pm at the Old Fort in Stone Town, the Ambassadors of France and Spain, together with the European Union Ambassador as well as the Honorary Consul of Germany to Zanzibar, will host the European Day at the Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF) 2022.
In this 25th edition of the Festival, the European Union and Member States engaged in support to culture managed to support ZIFF, not only financially, but also by bringing in professionals and technical partners from Europe and the region.
The Festival highlights the range and dynamism of African film and storytelling and has become a point of reference for the East African region over the years.
Indeed, the presence of an increasing number of partnerships and collaborations to the Festival, not only from the region, but also from other continents, is an indicator of its importance for the cultural landscape and for the film industry.
The European Union, in a Team Europe spirit, brings professionals and resources with the aim of fostering cultural exchanges as well as promoting growth and job creation through cultural and creative industries.
After ZIFF, in October and November 2022, the event “EU and ZIFF goes Mainland” will support the screening of EU films in universities across different cities in Mainland.
