New Signed Agreement between ADRA Timor-Leste and Rede Feto Timor-Leste Under the European Union Funded Hakbiit Feto Project

Dili, 23 March 2023 – ADRA Timor-Leste is glad to sign the 3rd Annual Detailed Implementation Plan with Rede Feto Timor-Leste (RFTL) on the implementation of Hakbiit Feto Project.

ADRA Timor-Leste and RFTL are in partnership to implement the Hakbiit Feto Project for 2021-2025, covering Ainaro, Baucau, Bobonaro and Dili Municipalities.  Each year, this partnership agreement is updated with a Detailed Implementation Plan, based on the review of the last year’s progress. This agreement signed today will be the basis for 2023-2024 project implementation.

Under this new plan, among others, the project will be working to have a functioning Rede Feto Learning platform to support the sharing of information, advocacy and business advice, and will develop and advocate for gender inclusion and domestic violence issues to feature in pre-marriage counselling. This will be done in close consultation with church leaders in the Dioceses of Dili and Baucau.

Hakbiit Feto Project is committed to empower Timorese women socially and economically through strengthening Timorese women focused CSOs under the Rede Feto network. The project supports the RFTL Secretariat in the areas of technical and management skills, governance, and organization sustainability for them to effectively promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in Timor-Leste.

“Investing in Timorese women’s economic empowerment takes us a significant step further towards gender equality, poverty eradication and inclusive economic growth. That is why, the European Union proudly supports ADRA and Rede Feto’s joint efforts through the Hakbiit Feto Project”, said the Ambassador of the European Union to Timor-Leste, Marc Fiedrich.

The project will continue to empower vulnerable women in Timor-Leste. Through good quality services of women focused CSOs, women can have safe spaces to express their thoughts and ideas, strengthen their social and economic skills, be active in value chain development, and contribute to a stronger society.  ADRA Timor-Leste in partnership with Rede Feto Timor-Leste is implementing this project, supported by the European Union, and co-financed by the Austrian Development Agency.
