The winners of the contest for the best article on green energy were awarded in Ashgabat.

“The competition has demonstrated a genuine engagement of both youth and professionals in sustainable energy issues. Our cooperation not only facilitates the exchange of best practices but also creates a platform for implementing Turkmenistan’s environmental strategy. We are delighted that the winners will have the opportunity to broaden their horizons through a study tour to Europe,” emphasized Dr. Caroline Milow, Programme Manager of “Green Central Asia II”.

An awards ceremony for the winners of the national contest for the best articles on green energy was held today at the Yildiz Hotel in Ashgabat.

The contest focused on thematic articles covering green energy, renewable energy sources (RES), and energy efficiency in Turkmenistan. It was initiated by the State Concern “Turkmengas” in cooperation with GIZ and the editorial board of the newspapers "Nebit-gaz" and "Ussatnews".

Launched in May 2025 within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust, the initiative aimed to raise public awareness of sustainable energy solutions and to support Turkmenistan’s national priorities in the fields of ecology, energy conservation, and climate action.

The first-place winners were awarded certificates for an international study tour organized under the project “EU for a green Turkmenistan: Policy dialogue and climate action 2024-2029” implemented by GIZ and co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Foreign Office. The second and third-place winners were presented with commemorative gifts.

The ceremony brought together representatives of national authorities, academic institutions, and international organizations, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan, the State Concern “Turkmengas”, leading higher education institutions, and the Delegation of the European Union to Turkmenistan.
