The EU Unity4Community Project expands the opportunities for civil society organizations (CSOs) and communities on the path to reforms, European integration, and recovery.
On 27 February ISAR Ednannia conducted a public presentation of the three-year EU Unity4Community Project in Civil Society Home in Kyiv. Initiative Center to Support Social Action "Ednannia" (ISAR Ednannia) will implement the Project. Representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the EU Delegation to Ukraine, local communities, CSOs, and experts delved into questions of strategic partnership between civil society initiatives and local authorities.
The Project’s presentation took place on took place on World NGO Day, symbolically highlighting the important role of civil society in the recovery and development of Ukraine. Opening the event, Asier Santillán, Head of the European Integration, Governance, Rule of Law, and Civil Society section of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, noted:
"For the European Union, the CSOs are an important pillar of the European integration. We are looking forward to facilitating access to support for those civil society organizations that are not in major cities and are smaller initiatives and do not have the experience in implementing EU-funded projects”.
The EU Unity4Community Project aims to strengthen civil society organizations as a driving force for change in communities, enhance their role in implementing development initiatives, and improve the culture of partnership between local authorities and civil society at the local level. As part of the Project, from 2025 to 2027, CSOs will have the opportunity to receive up to 100 grants to implement development and advocacy projects and also get support for research initiatives. Additionally, around 300 representatives of CSOs and local self-government bodies will participate in the Recovery Officers training program, equipping them with essential skills for effective community transformation.
The public presentation included a panel discussion on Partnership for Progress: From Crisis Response to Strategic Cooperation, where participants discussed the importance of cooperation between civil society and government in the context of Ukraine’s recovery and European integration. Volodymyr Sheyhus, Executive Director of ISAR Ednannia, emphasized:
"ISAR Ednannia is launching a new project through which the EU supports сivil society. Within this project, together with local CSOs, who often play an even greater role in community development, we are uniting for the future of our country".
During the event, ISAR Ednannia presented the strategic areas of the project, including grants, analytics, and training for CSOs.
