We are
The European Union (EU) is an economic and political partnership between 27 European countries. It plays an important role in international affairs through diplomacy, trade, development aid and working with global organisations. Abroad, the EU is represented through more than 140 diplomatic representations, known also as EU Delegations, which have a similar function to those of an embassy.
The EU Delegation to Ukraine is one of those 140 delegations. Its mandate includes promoting the political and economic relations between Ukraine and the European Union, monitoring the implementation of the Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine, informing the public of the development of the EU and explaining policies and participating in the implementation of the European Union's assistance programmes.
We offer
We offer the post of a Driver. Under this post, the recruited person will be attributed functions depending on the needs of the Delegation. Upon recruitment, the successful candidate will occupy a specific job function as a Driver – this job function may be changed in accordance with the needs of the Delegation. Under this job function the successful candidate will provide driving services for the EU Delegation to Ukraine, under the supervision of the Head of Administration.
Functions and duties
- Assuming the responsibility for one Delegation vehicle and ensuring that the vehicle is in a clean and perfect roadworthy state at all times (if any work on a car has to be done outside working hours, especially at weekends, prior authorisation must be obtained from the Head of Administration)
- Carrying out checks each morning of the basic mechanical function of the vehicle and reporting any damage immediately to the Head of Administration
- Following up on periodic maintenance, service and necessary repairs subject to the authorisation of the Head of Administration
- Maintaining a duly log book of the vehicle
- Carrying out driving assignments authorised by the Head of Administration and informing him/drivers' schedule coordinator immediately when there are changes in the programmed schedule
- Ensuring timely transportation of staff in the execution of their functions
- Assisting with customs clearance when required
- Performing mail and messenger services with the responsibility for the proper delivery of documents in line with given instructions and procedures in place
- Ensuring the safety and security of all occupant of delegation vehicles travelling during missions and other trips
- Timely inform and assist with driver substitution by telephone contact with Delegation where assignments are extended without warning or delays are incurred
- Carrying out reception backup duties when required: answering and forwarding phone calls, screening phone calls; sorting, recording and distributing all incoming post and deliveries; greeting/directing persons entering Delegation and monitoring visitor access
- Data entry and management of the drivers' records on mileage and petrol consumption in IT systems designated for this purpose
- Daily maintenance of records of all overtime in the IT systems designated for this purpose
- Ensure polite communication at work
- Fulfilling other administrative tasks as designated by the Head of Administration
The successful candidate will be based in Kyiv. Working time: 37.5 working hours/week. The contract ("local agent" type contract - Group V) will be concluded as unlimited term contract.

Selection Criteria
Minimum Requirements:
- Medically fit to perform the required duties;
- Enjoys civil rights and permits for employment under local law. Non-Ukrainian candidate shall present work and residence permit for the duration of the contract.
- Has a fluent written and spoken Ukrainian and Russian, knowledge of English B1 level;
- Completed Secondary education;
- Job-Related experience: at least 3 years of experience working as a professional driver.

The procedure
After the deadline for applications, the applications will be reviewed by a Selection Committee set up for this purpose. The Selection Committee will prepare a short-list of candidates who are considered to be the most suitable for the post on the basis of a preliminary assessment of the information provided in their application letter and the supporting documents. The short-listed candidates will be invited to an assessment phase which includes an interview – during this phase the Selection Committee will assess the suitability of the candidates for the post. Interviewed candidates will be requested to undergo practical driving test.
The candidates who have not been short-listed will not be contacted individually; however, the Delegation will use the same means of publication as for this Vacancy Notice to inform the remaining candidates once the recruitment procedure has been completed and that a candidate has (or has not) been recruited.
