16 students from Uzbekistan won Erasmus+ scholarships to acquire master’s degrees in European Universities in 2021
On July 9, the Pre-Departure Orientation Meeting was organized by the National Erasmus Office in Uzbekistan and the Delegation of the European Union in Uzbekistan for 16 new ERASMUS+ scholarship winners from Uzbekistan. 7 female and 9 male from Uzbekistan awarded with Erasmus Mundus scholarships and will go to study in such countries of Europe, as Germany, France, Italy, Estonia, Hungary, UK, Belgium, Spain, Finland, Netherlands, Austria and the Russian Federation. The main subject areas of the students’ choice are: Medicine, Agriculture, Engineering, Politics and International Law.
During the opening speech the EU Ambassador to Uzbekistan, H.E. Ms Charlotte Adriaen pointed out: “For the last five years in total 72 young people from Uzbekistan were awarded Erasmus Mundus Scholarships. Studying abroad is becoming the key to success in your global economy. Uzbekistan and EU count on young, bright, well-educated and dedicated people like you to travel, explore the world and foster our cooperation”.
During the pre-departure session, participants were presented other Erasmus+ programmes and benefits, heard about networking, research and funding opportunities, heard tips and life experiences from alumni, as well as were trained on how to better communicate in the multi-cultural world.
In total, 2,756 winners of the 2021 Erasmus+ global call will study at Joint Master Degree Programmes at universities in the European Union and worldwide. 90 application were sent from Uzbekistan among 12,271 other participants competing from other 167 countries of the world.
It is also worth mentioning that the new ERASMUS programme’s budget for 2021-2027 is totaling 26.2 billion euros, compared to 14.7 billion euros for 2014-2020. With this substantially increased budget, Erasmus+ will be even more inclusive, digital and more green!

Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees are unique master courses developed by a consortium of a minimum of two European universities which provide grants that fully cover the study programme, travel cost, insurance, visa support, scholarship of EUR 1,000 per month, etc. In addition to their main curricula, students will be enrolled at language courses, learn about the countries of their stay, discover and enjoy new culture together with groupmates from around the world.
