EU Ambassador Charlotte Adriaen met with women in the "Choyxona" Center

On May 19, as part of a visit to Samarkand, the Ambassador of the European Union in Uzbekistan Charlotte Adriaen visited the rural information and resource center "Choyxona" at the Urgut district of the Samarkand region, which was opened on April 20, 2021, in the framework of the project "Strengthening institutional and organizational capacity of NGOs to respond to the impact of COVID-19 on most vulnerable women and youth in rural areas of Uzbekistan and improve their socio-economic situation". The general budget of the project is - 299,900 Euros and fully funded by the European Union.

Project is implemented by the National Center for Socio-Economic Development "SABR" together with the Commission on Gender Equality of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Association of Business Women of Andijan, Khokimiyats of Izbaskan, Buston, Akdarya and Urgut regions.

The goal of the project is to make an active contribution to improving the lives of low-income rural residents, mostly women and youth, who have been most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the cozy home environment, the Ambassador was able to meet with women-beneficiaries of the Project, as well as discuss the implementation of the project with the head of the Sabr Center, Mavluda Shirinova, who spoke in detail about the activities of the Center from the moment of opening and Project achievements.
