EU Ambassador to Uzbekistan pays a two-day visit to Fergana
17 July, 2023, Fergana, Uzbekistan. On 18-19 July 2023 Ambassador of the European Union to Uzbekistan Charlotte Adriaen will participate in “Bridges of Friendship in the Fergana Valley” Forum, organized by the EU-funded regional project “Cross-Border and Cross-Sector Dialogue for Tolerance and Peace in Central Asia”, implemented by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. The Forum will bring together representatives of government agencies, youth leaders, and experts from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan to present the results of the project and discuss issues of peacebuilding and sustainable development in the participating countries.
The Ambassador will also meet with representatives of the local government, will visit the Fergana Polytechnic Institute to meet with the management of the educational institution and local coordinators of the EU funded Erasmus + programme.
On 19 July, the Ambassador will visit the EU funded Fergana Valley Water Resources Management Project, and then meet with the local community of entrepreneurs. The visit agenda also includes meetings at the NGO “Tarakkiyot”, working on the the EU-funded BOMCA10 - the Border Management Programme in Central Asia aimed to enhance security, stability and sustainable growth in the region, while supporting cross-border cooperation and improving living conditions for people in the border areas of Central Asia and NGO “Mekhrjon”, the grantee of Spotlight Initiative Programme of EU, the project which is focused on prevention of violence in the family and society through building the capacity of lawyers, psychologists, social workers and heads of 20 NGOs in the Region.
