EU and Ukraine Commemorate Four Years of Russia’s War of Aggression with Exhibition and Film Screening in Tashkent

The exhibition presents a powerful collection of works offering diverse perspectives on Ukrainian cultural symbols, social phenomena, historical events, and traditions - elements that are deeply familiar to Ukrainians yet often little known abroad.

24 February 2026, Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Today, the Delegation of the European Union to Uzbekistan, together with the Embassy of Ukraine in Uzbekistan, commemorated four years since the start of Russia’s full-scale war of aggression against Ukraine with the opening of a poster exhibition by Ukrainian illustrators at the “Ilkhom” Theatre in Tashkent.

The exhibition presents a powerful collection of works offering diverse perspectives on Ukrainian cultural symbols, social phenomena, historical events, and traditions - elements that are deeply familiar to Ukrainians yet often little known abroad. Through contemporary visual art, the project highlights the beauty, richness, and uniqueness of Ukraine, showcasing the country’s identity and cultural heritage to the wider world.

As part of the programme, guests also had an opportunity to attend a screening of the documentary “Us, Our Pets and the War” by Anton Ptushkin. The film tells the stories of soldiers and volunteers - Ukrainians and foreigners alike, who risk their lives to rescue animals affected by the war. It is not only a story about war, but about humanity, compassion, and the extraordinary bond between people and animals. In the darkest moments, the film reminds viewers that sometimes it is not we who save the animals, but it is them who save us.

On the same day, Ambassadors of EU Member States accredited to Uzbekistan, together with other European partners, issued a joint video message in which they commemorated the hundreds of children killed during Russian attacks.

Addressing the audience, Toivo Klaar, EU Ambassador to Uzbekistan reaffirmed the European Union’s commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity:

The European Union remains the largest supporter of Ukraine, politically, economically, militarily, and diplomatically, staying committed to any credible path toward a just and lasting peace. We are with you every step of the way, and you will always find a reliable and stable partner in the EU.
