EU PROJECT SHARES BEST PRACTICES IN HOUSING MANAGEMENT WITH UZBEKISTAN

Within the EU-funded project “Promoting professional housing management in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan” (PROMHOUSE) a round table discussion was held on “PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT FOR HOUSING MANAGEMENT IN UZBEKISTAN” with the support and active participation of Ministry Housing and Communal Services of the Republic, Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education, Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations, representatives of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, companies, non-governmental organisations from the housing sector.

Tashkent, Uzbekistan – On March 30, in the framework of a European Union (EU) project “Promoting professional housing management in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan” (PROMHOUSE) a round table discussion was held on “PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT FOR HOUSING MANAGEMENT IN UZBEKISTAN” with the support and active participation of Ministry Housing and Communal Services of the Republic, Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education, Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations, representatives of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, companies, non-governmental organisations from the housing sector.

The aim of the round table – development of professional education for the management of residential properties. The improvement of the multi-family building maintenance system requires professionally trained managers. Cities in Uzbekistan face a challenge - a shortage of young professionals in housing management meeting modern requirements and international standards.

The event´s participants developed a number of recommendations on improving the management and operation of residential property, and the need for energy modernisation of the housing stock, which will be submitted to the above ministries, the Tashkent City Hokimiat and the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.

The PROMHOUSE project is implemented by the Housing Initiative for Eastern Europe, IWO e. V. (Berlin), the Association of management entities, services and energy service in housing sector “Shanyrak” (Nur-Sultan) and the Association of the organizations of professionally managing and serving housing funds (Tashkent).

Implementation period: 01/2020 - 06/2023. Total budget of the project: € 962,898; EU contribution: € 866,609.
