Executive Vice President Dombrovskis completed his visit to Uzbekistan

Mr Valdis Dombrovskis, Executive Vice President of the European Commission, paid a successful two day visit to Samarkand to represent the European Union at the EBRD Annual meeting and attend the meeting of the Board of Governors.

 

Executive Vice President of the European Commission, Mr Valdis Dombrovskis, paid a successful two day visit to Samarkand on 17-18 May to represent the European Union at the EBRD Annual meeting and attend the meeting of the Board of Governors.

During the Governors session, Executive Vice President Dombrovskis reiterated the EU position on Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, highlighted EBRD projects in support of Ukraine and stressed the strong partnership between the EU and EBRD, in a Team Europe spirit. He also welcomed EBRD priority given to the projects supporting the transition towards green economy.



On 17 May, Executive Vice President Dombrovskis was received by the President Mirziyoyev to discuss ways of fostering the EU - Uzbekistan trade and economic relations. Both parties stressed the growing economic ties and agreed that the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement would pave the way for an even stronger cooperation.

Executive Vice President Dombrovskis also held bilateral meetings and signed agreements with EBRD President Odile Basso and Deputy prime minister of Moldova, Dumitru Alaiba, and gave interviews to local media.

Along with Executive Vice President, the European Union was represented at the EBRD Annual Meeting by a high level officials from the European Commission.



On 19th May, Executive Vice President Dombrovskis flew to Almaty to attend the Second EU - Central Asia Economic Forum.
