Film Screening at EU Delegation to Uzbekistan in Support of Ukraine

22 February 2024, Tashkent, Uzbekistan. As the world reflects on the two-year consequences of the Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the EU Delegation to Uzbekistan, Embassy of Poland and Embassy of Ukraine held a screening of the documentary film that received Pare Lorentz award - "In the Rearview" by acclaimed Polish film director Maciek Hamela.

Attended by the Ambassadors of a number of states represented in Uzbekistan, national partners and journalists, the film screening aimed to shed light on the military aggression on Ukraine and its far-reaching impact.

"In the Rearview" delves into the human stories, portraying the struggles and resilience of individuals affected by war. Through its poignant narrative, the film offers a glimpse into the harsh realities faced by those living in the midst of the Russia’s aggression.

Speaking at the event, Charlotte Adriaen, EU Ambassador to Uzbekistan, remarked, "Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine creates a dangerous precedent for the rest of the world. Two years since the full-scale invasion, the EU continues to support the restoration of the full sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine in its 1991 borders. In this context, the EU stands committed to enhance its cooperation with Central Asia, including Uzbekistan, as never before”.
The screening was followed by a discussion, providing attendees with an opportunity to engage in dialogue on issues of sovereignty of each country and explore avenues for further support to Ukraine.
The event underscored the importance of international solidarity in similar situations and in promoting peace and security. By bringing together diplomats, journalists, and active citizens, it aimed to raise awareness and foster dialogue on pressing global issues.
