Happy International Women's day 2023

ASSALOMU ALAYKUM,

Today we celebrate all women and their contribution to the society. I am constantly impressed with the dynamism and the willingness of Uzbek women and girls, their engagement within the society as agents of change in all spheres. 

Innovation and technological change, education in the digital age - all these create opportunities for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls. In the year of Human Care and Quality Education, we see Uzbekistan is actively working towards more Gender equality, to give more opportunities for women to engage in the economy, science, and digital world. This echoes very well the priorities of the European year of skills.

But for women to realize their dreams and be equal actor within the society, all barriers should be removed - one of them is Gender based violence... It is of crucial importance that violence against women and girls is strongly combated and becomes unacceptable.

Today I hope that all forms of violence will be criminalised in Uzbekistan very soon sending a strong signal to all, men and women, that any form of violence is not bearable.
