Marcel Sobberei was an Italian, owner of the largest pre-revolutionary bookstore in Tashkent. Valentina Sobberey, daughter of Marcel F. Sobberey, who later wrote poems and published them in Tashkent newspapers, was familiar with local poetry. She became a famous scriptwriter of Uzbekistan, author of the first silent films made on "Uzbekfilm" in the late 20s.
