Afghanistan: 7th Meeting of the Special Representatives and Envoys of the EU and Central Asia

On 12 November, the 7th Meeting of EU and Central Asia Special Representatives and Special Envoys for Afghanistan and the EU Special Representative for Central Asia was held in Brussels. 

The meeting provided a platform for a comprehensive exchange on developments in Afghanistan and their impact on the region and beyond, since the last meeting on 5 February 2025. 

The participants exchanged views on the Afghan economy, climate change, inclusivity, drug policy and other security challenges. The discussion also covered Afghanistan’s international obligations including human rights, especially women’s and girls’, the security situation and the UN-led Doha process. The participants underlined the importance of lasting peace and sustainable development and welcomed opportunities for further EU-Central Asia cooperation in support of the people of Afghanistan.
