DPRK/Russia: Statement by the Spokesperson on arms transfers and military cooperation

03.11.2023 EEAS Press Team

The EU is deeply concerned by reports about arms transfers and military cooperation between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the Russian Federation for the use in Russia’s illegal, unprovoked and unjustified war of aggression against Ukraine.

The EU strongly condemns any such arms transfers. The EU urges the DPRK and Russia to refrain from any exchanges of military equipment or ammunition and abide by the successive UN Security Council resolutions, including resolutions 1718, 1874 and 2270, clearly prohibiting any arms exports or imports involving the DPRK.

Russia’s violating its own co-authored UN Security Council resolutions and deepening ties with the DPRK reflect its increasing isolation, despair and the effectiveness of the EU’s restrictive measures against Russia.
