Egypt/Sinai: Statement by the Spokesperson on the helicopter crash of the MFO team

The European Union is saddened to learn that a helicopter carrying members of the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) crashed on Thursday in Egypt’s Sinai, killing eight observers who were on board. Among them was one Czech citizen, one French citizen and six U.S. citizens.

We extend our condolences to the victims’ families and their loved ones and reiterate the EU’s full support to the MFO in its mission to oversee the terms of the peace treaty between Egypt and Israel. This is crucial to preserve stability in the region.
