EUMAM UA continues with a new specialised training programme for Ukrainian military personnel
The Military Police Battalion -the Spanish Army´s reference unit in this sphere – was the unit in charge of carrying out the first military police module at its facilities in Bétera (Valencia). The whole stage of training, that had a one month duration, has been structured into three sections designed with the purpose of helping the Ukrainian personnel smoothly trough the content.
The first of those sections, designed as the module´s core, is focused on police hand-to-hand combat and medical care. The second one is oriented to the main tasks of the military police, such as security as well as mobility support. The last part is focused on police engagement with close quarters combat (CQC), active shooter practice and police raids.
As expressed by the chief of this module, major José Luis Rodríguez Sánchez, the Ukrainian personnel has come with a prior understanding that shows the differences between the procedures of both armies. However, “all the knowledge and experiences of our personnel have been instructed to them so that they can adapt them to their own and execute their tasks in a more effective way when they come back to Ukraine”. He also added that the trained personnel “has shown great commitment”.
In the same way the Spanish military consider the module as a highly valuable opportunity because “we have also received their experiences and lessons learned in combat that have enriched our own instruction and personnel formation, while strengthening the bonds of comradeship”.
This instruction modules remains not only a key aspect to raise the technical level of the Ukrainian operators, but also a clear reaffirmation of enduring EU commitment.
EUMAM UA, support for Ukraine
All this training is managed through the Spanish Toledo Training Coordination Centre (TTCC) Headquarters based in Burgos, under the direction of the Operations Command, whose operational chain coordinates not only the various training modules from their planning to their execution, but also its activities with different international structures.
