EUMS Logistics Conference 2024

The 21st Edition of the annual EU Military Staff Logistic Conference (EULOG24) will be held at the Belgian Royal Military Academy in Brussels on 18-19 June 2024.

In today’s volatile times, the logistic dimension is in the spotlight more than ever. The conference presents itself as an ideal forum to share and discuss the common logistics challenges we all face, to offer insight in the latest developments and to become more resilient for the future.

Under the main topic A COLLECTIVE APPROACH TOWARDS A RESILIENT LOGISTICS SUPPORT”. FROM A WHOLE–OF –GOVERNMENT TO A WHOLE –OF –SOCIETY APPROACH”, for the first time the Logisticians and Movement & Transportation communities will be brought together in a single three-day event, co-hosted by the EUMS, and the Belgium and the Dutch Ministers of Defense.

Enablement and sustainment encompass the broad scope of logistics functionalities to be covered at the OPERATIONAL level, but today’s challenges remain to have a resilient critical infrastructure supported by logistic strategic enablers such as strategic lift, logistics hubs and a prioritized military mobility network. The main effort in developing these capabilities and supporting structures lies at the POLITICAL and MILITARY-STRATEGIC level.

A timely and efficient logistic support also requires a comprehensive legal framework, a robust and collaborative financial frame, pre-negotiated contracts and an extensive exchange of data supported by a resilient Logistic Information System. The intertwined relationship between military mobility and cyberspace, and between the military and their civilian logistics providers require more than ever a forward thinking approach.

In the back drop of a changing strategic environment this conference offers the ideal forum to reflect on the logistics lessons learned from current Missions and Operations and the common challenges to implement them. Additionally, it aims to share recent developments in logistics, and to discuss the necessary concepts and enablers towards a more resilient logistics support.

As part of the Whole-of-Society Approach the audience is ideally represented by national and international Strategic and Operational Commands/Head Quarters (Logistics and Movement Coordination Cells) and Strategic Enablers (i.e Ministry of Defence and Ministries related to Infrastructure and Transport, Regional Development, Finance, Internal Affairs), as well as affiliated EU Institutions and Agencies and Partners. In this regard, I kindly ask those concerned to extend this invitation to their Permanent Representation to the EU.

Registration by 30 May 2024 at the latest is compulsory. You are kindly invited to the hosted networking/walking dinner, offered by the Belgian Ministry of Defence and the Dutch Ministry of Defence, at the exclusive premises of the Royal Museum of the Armed Forces and Military History, at walking distance from the event venue. The dinner is scheduled at the end of the first conference day, 18 June 2024, from 18:30-20:30.

This seminar will take place in English.
