Since the beginning of the Agreement, Honduras' exports to Europe have doubled, reaching 1,210million euros in 2021.

Throughout May 2022, the Delegation of European Union to Uzbekistan organised a series of Europe Day events to learn more about the values and opportunities of EU. The date marks the anniversary of the Schuman Declaration of 1950 and gives a chance to learn more about the values and opportunities of EU. This year, Europe Day has been celebrated also as a part of European Year of Youth, focusing on the vital role the young people play, in both – Europe and Uzbekistan to anchoring these values. Passers-by in Tegucigalpa's Central Park joined the celebration of Europe Month organised by the European Union in Honduras.

Following an invitation by the EUDel in Honduras, experts from different socio-economic areas gathered at the National University of Honduras (UNAH) to share their analysis on the impact of Russia’s invasion in Ukraine and its consequences to Honduras. Higher gas prices, food safety and poverty were some of the main points emphasized.

The “Ebb and Flow: Return to Nature” exhibition is part of the Viva Europa 2022 cultural festival, which aims to highlight shared European cultural heritage with Filipinos. This is also in celebration of the founding of European Union. The exhibition fittingly coincides with the EU Green Week (30 May to 5 June) and the lead-up to the UN Ocean’s Conference (Lisbon, 27 June to 1 July 2022).

On May 19, the photo exhibition “Empowering Youth: Faces of European Union – Uzbekistan Cooperation”, organized by the Delegation of the European Union to Republic of Uzbekistan, is available to see at the Tashkent House of Photography. The moto of the Exhibition “Leave your fingerprint for a better future” invites the young people of Uzbekistan to become agents of a better - greener, more inclusive, and digital future.

The European Union reiterates its commitment to a constructive partnership with Mozambique, in support of local efforts to building a prosperous, sustainable, inclusive, peaceful and democratic country.

We celebrated Europe day on the 6th of May with a concert in Reykjavík. We were pleased to welcome over 300 guests to a concert by popular Icelandic artists. H.E. Þórdís Kolbrún Reykfjörð Gylfadóttir, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Iceland, was an honorary guest.

Europe Week in Asmara

Every year on 9 May, Europe Day is commemorated as a celebration of European unity, values and achievements. This year, against the backdrop of the tragic war in Ukraine, it is with deep emotion but renewed conviction that the European Union (EU) and its Member States have honoured this date and the fundamental principles on which the European Union is built: peace, the rule of law, democracy, freedom, human dignity and solidarity. In those times where war has come back to the European continent, and after two years of an isolating and damaging pandemic, it was more important than ever for the EU to come together with its valued partners who are often key collaborators in those very successes Europe Day is meant to celebrate. It is thus with great pleasure and pride that the EU gathered with Mauritius and Seychelles to celebrate Europe Day and look back on an enduring and fruitful collaboration with these countries.

Together with numerous guests, Europe day was celebrated on 13th of May by the EU Delegations to Ethiopia and the African Union in Addis.

The EU Delegation to Yemen organised a reception on Wednesday, 11 May in Amman to celebrate Europe Day, which was attended by Yemen’s Ambassador to Jordan Ali al-Amrani, EU ambassadors accredited to Yemen, the UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg, diplomats and representatives of Yemen’s civil society. In his remarks, Ambassador Gabriel Munuera Viñals underscored EU’s commitment to advance peace in Yemen and the strong partnership between the EU and Yemen.

On 12 May, young activists, accompanied by Young European Ambassadors from North Macedonia, symbolically ‘took over’ the ceremonial hall of the government - to present to PM Dimitar Kovachevski and ministers the conclusions of the conference #ThinkForward: YOUth ACTion NOW!, which took place in the previous days in Skopje with the participation of 30 young activists from all over the Western Balkans.

On Monday 9th May, the EU Delegation celebrated Europe Day 2022 together with representatives from EU Member States and the Government of the Republic of Zambia.

La Délégation de l’Union européenne et les Etats Membres de l’Union européenne au Niger ont célébré ce 9 mai 2022 la Fête de l’Europe. Les présidents des institutions de la République, les membres du Gouvernement, les représentants du corps diplomatique et des organisations internationales, les partenaires de l’UE au Niger et les membres du personnel la Délégation de l’UE ont massivement participé à cette cérémonie, qui a également été l’opportunité de célébrer l’Année Européenne de la Jeunesse (2022).

L’Equipe Europe au Bénin, composée de l’Ambassadrice de l’Union européenne et des Ambassadeurs des Pays-Bas, de la France, de l’Allemagne et de la Belgique, a célébré le 9 mai 2022 à la Résidence de l'Union européenne à Cotonou, la Journée de l’Europe. Des autorités de l’Administration publique, des partenaires du secteur public et privé, les professionnels des médias, la société civile, les artistes et les amis de l’Europe ont massivement pris part à cette célébration.

The European Union (EU) in Ghana commemorated Europe Day 2022 on 9th May, under the theme “65 years of EU-Ghana partnership”. To commemorate the day, an official diplomatic reception was held at the EU Ambassador’s Residence. Guests included His Royal Majesty Ga Mants3, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Hon. Minister of Defence, Mr Dominic Nitiwul, EU Member States Ambassadors in Ghana, government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, civil society organisations, project partners, academia and the media. The EU also staged a photo exhibition of EU projects in Ghana centred on people, to pay tribute to ordinary Ghanaian heroes making a difference for people, planet, and prosperity.

In celebration of the Europe Day, on 9 May the European Union Delegation to Sierra Leone hosted a reception that brought together distinguished guests and partners of the European Union, including representatives of the Sierra Leonean Government and other public institutions, political parties, Civil Society Organisations, the business community and other political, economic and social actors, as well as representatives of diplomatic missions and international partners including the Heads of Mission of EU Member States (France, Germany, Ireland and Spain). The Guest of Honour of the evening was Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Corporation of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Honorable Madam Mamadi Gobeh Kamara.

The European Union (EU) Ambassador to Ghana, Irchad Razaaly, hosted a networking event at the EU residence to promote the EU-Ghana partnership on higher education. The event brought together former ERASMUS+ scholarship beneficiaries, university representatives, student organisations and EU Member States. Also present were representatives from the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth and Sport, and the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations.

The Delegation of the European Union to Georgia marks Europe Day together with EU Member States and with the people of Georgia.

Europe Day is our celebration of a new vision for Europe that was presented 72 years ago in the Schuman Declaration.

Europe Day commemorates the signing of the 'Schuman Declaration' on 9 May 1950 – the ambitious plan to secure long-term peace in post-war Europe that is considered the beginning of what is now the European Union. Europe Day marks this anniversary while reflecting the steadfast political, financial and humanitarian support the EU is showing Ukraine in its war with Russia. Europe Day also helps shine a light on the fact that 2022 is officially European Year of Youth – which promotes the importance of the voice of youth in everything the European Union does and stands for.

Under the slogan #ThinkForward, the Delegation of the EU, together with Europe House, is marking Europe Day 2022 with a series of activities that - for the first time since the start of the pandemic - include physical presence.

Europe Day is fast approaching! This year, we have created something new to showcase our close relationship with Georgia. We have worked in close cooperation with Georgian film director, Giorgi Kvelidze to make ‘Europe and Me’, a documentary film with four short stories shot in our four focal regions of Kakheti, Racha-Lechkhumi, Guria and Imereti. These films show our shared values those of diversity, equality, freedom and democracy.

Dr. Melita Gabrič, Ambassador of the European Union to Canada, hosted a highly-anticipated Europe Day reception at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa on 4 May to mark the 72nd anniversary of the Schuman Declaration. Guest speakers included Mélanie Joly, Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Ann Linde, Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs.

9 May is Europe Day!

The European Union in Honduras inaugurated the European Film Festival in Honduras with a selection of 11 European films.

In partnership with NParks, Minister Iswaran, Ambassador Piórko, Ambassadors of EU Member States and Ukraine’s Ambassador to Singapore planted trees. They were accompanied by youth as we mark 2022 as the European Year of Youth. Trees are both about a shared commitment for Green Recovery and they also symbolise hope for the future. The European Union (EU) in Ghana is celebrating Europe week from 2-9 May 2022, under the theme “65 years of EU-Ghana partnership”. This year is the 65th anniversary of the creation of both the European Union – with the signing of the Treaty of Rome – and of an independent Ghana. This presents a unique opportunity to celebrate the cooperation and partnership between the EU and Ghana throughout the years. The EU will undertake a number of activities throughout the week, culminating in the celebration of Europe Day on 9th May – the date marking the anniversary of Robert Schuman's Declaration to form a European economic union in 1950.
