EUSDI GoG convening various workshops for civil society and security agencies in Ghana

Throughout October - November, the Initiative is organizing workshops for members of civil society organisations (CSOs) and traditional leaders as well as with the participation of various Ghanaian security services.

The workshops take place in the northern cities of Tamale,Bolgatanga and Damongo. One of the objectives of the workshops aims at bringing together an equal number of security and defence agents and representatives of the authorities, such as the Ghana Immigration Service, the Ghana Police Service and the National Information Bureau as well as CSOs to foster common ground with respect to the prevention of different types of conflict.

In small working groups, the participants are developing solutions to various fictitious scenarios, including on chieftain conflicts or between farmers and herders. Various aspects of conflict prevention were discussed that included townhall meetings for enhanced awareness raising and close inter-security agency cooperation.
