First official visit of the new European Commission outside the EU and focused on bilateral meetings with the Ethiopian government as well as the African Union
On 7 December 2019, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, and Jutta Urpilainen, European Commissioner for International Partnerships, travelled to Ethiopia. This visit was the first official visit of the new European Commission outside the EU and focused on bilateral meetings with the Ethiopian government as well as the African Union. Moreover, the European Commission announced a significant boost to the EU's cooperation with Ethiopia.
