We offer:

A traineeship of up to 6 months within the Political, Economic, Press and Information Section of the EU Delegation to Belarus, starting in April-May  2023.

The Political, Economic, Press and Information Section of the Delegation is in charge of developing analysis and recommendations for HQ related to:

  • Political, social and economic developments in the country, including issues related to the evolution of civil society and the situation of human rights;
  • Belarus' foreign and security policies, including within the context of the Eastern Partnership;
  • Public diplomacy – including in the field of culture and economy;
  • Sectoral matters notably on trade and energy security.

The trainee will be fully embedded in the work of the Section, receive direct exposure to the EU activities in Belarus, and be provided with a unique occasion to understand from inside the work of an EU Delegation in a third country.

 

Main tasks:

  • Data gathering and analysis of social and economic indicators in the country;
  • Participate in internal and external meetings/events and report timely about them;
  • Assist the work of the Section as necessary, including with regard to outreach/visibility projects;
  • Assist in the Section's research and reporting on domestic issues in the Republic of Belarus;
  • Participate and contribute to the preparation and implementation of public diplomacy activities of the EU Delegation;
  • Assist in the conception and implementation of information and communication products.

 

We look for:

Qualifications or special requirements:

  • In view of the scarcity of available travel options and other logistical and procedural complications, this time we will only be able to consider applications of persons currently residing in Belarus
  • University degree in international relations, political science, law, sociology, economics or related field;
  • Excellent English language skills;
  • Good Russian language skills, knowledge of Belarusian language would be an asset;
  • Good analytical and drafting skills;
  • Proven interest for EU affairs and neighbourhood policies;
  • Knowledge of the Republic of Belarus' institutional system and political landscape would be an asset;
  • Capacity to work in a team with attention to details.

Important information to read before applying

Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship)

Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.

Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidate is not able to present the required documents, his/her candidacy will be rejected.

The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin.

Citizens from EU Member states:

  • must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation;
  • must undertake to apply for a relevant entrance visa and / or temporary residence permit where applicable,  based on the traineeship agreement, the duration of the traineeship, and in compliance with the local legislation.

The Delegation informs that even if our Headquarters confirm the eligibility of the selected candidate, traineeships could be postponed, suspended or even cancelled considering the context of the COVID-19 in the host country as well as in the country of origin where applicable.
